<Abstract>People with disabilities comprise a large and vulnerable population in the United States who are entitled to disability benefits under the Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) program provided by the federal government. However, there are many logistical and bureaucratic barriers to the application process, particularly the system and individual level barriers that can delay patients from having access to the income and healthcare necessary for securing their wellbeing. The strategy of establishing important personal relationships with the key decisionmakers of the application process is key to expedite and increase the likelihood for the receipt of disability benefits.</Abstract>
